About Project

The Bete Gabriel Rufael Church Conservation Project, completed in 2016, addressed the preservation of both the church’s internal and external surfaces. This comprehensive effort included conservation works and structural improvements to ensure the longevity of this remarkable piece of Ethiopian heritage.

Preservation works at “Bete Golgotha ”and “Bete Michael” “Church, completed in 2018, addressed the preservation of two iconic Lalibela churches – Bete Golgotha and Bete Michael. The project encompassed the meticulous restoration of both the churches’ external and internal surfaces, incorporating specialized conservation techniques and necessary structural reinforcement. This vital undertaking ensured the continued integrity of these remarkable UNESCO World Heritage monuments.
