The Royal Netherlands Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is a unique architectural achievement that blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Completed in 2005, the project encompassed the construction of a new chancery, ambassador’s residence, and staff housing, all designed to respect the existing topography and vegetation. Local materials and contractors were used extensively, with the red-ochre concrete facade echoing the Ethiopian soil and the roof garden referencing the Dutch water landscapes.
